Private life and the digitalisation of the economy

This course explores the impact of digitalization on our private life.

The course will examine the EU legal framework protecting privacy in the context of a digitalization of our society. It will look at specific issues such as the regulation of cookies, direct marketing and privacy of electronic communications, in particular in light of the proposals for an EU wide e-privacy regulation.

The course will also look at issues of privacy in the context of increasingly common technologies such as internet of things, surveillance and profiling and digitalization of the health sector.
