Why study Philosophy?
Beyond acquiring academic skills, studying Philosophy helps you to better:
• Express yourself: philosophy teaches you to think independently, express your point of view, and build personal ideas through solid argumentation.
• Develop yourself: philosophy provides essential tools for self-knowledge.
• Find your place: philosophy puts the world into perspective and encourages a critical understanding of events.

• Within the Faculty of Philosophy, research is organised around two main areas:
1. Historical (Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, Modern and Contemporary Philosophy)

The Théophilyon Journal
Recently included in the French academic ranking system, Théophilyon is the journal of the Faculties of Theology and Philosophy at UCLy. While academic thought in France has often overlooked theology, the humanities are increasingly questioning religion. Therefore, dialogue between all disciplines reflecting on this topic appears necessary.
International openness
The Faculty of Philosophy maintains close ties with the University of Perugia in Italy. Within this framework, student and faculty exchanges as well as numerous collaborations are organised.
