The Human Rights Institute is a department of UCLy’s Faculty of Law and European and International Political Studies.
Founded in 1985, the Human Rights Institute has an academic mission focused on education and training in Law, International and European Law, with particular emphasis on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
Its teaching approach and academic programmes foster an interdisciplinary perspective. While legal disciplines are central, the issues addressed also draw on insights from Political Science, Philosophy, Legal Anthropology, Geopolitics, the Sociology of Religion, Economics and Communication, among other fields.
A strong international outlook and close ties with civil society are key features of the Human Rights Institute’s academic profile.
