The Department of History supports students throughout their studies and in building their professional projects

Department of History

• The Bachelor’s Degree in History combines the study of History with political science, international relations, and geography. Two specialised minors are available: Political Science – Geopolitics (available on the Lyon and Annecy campuses) and Political Science – Geography (available only on the Lyon campus).

• Opening in September 2026: Master’s Degree in History – Expertise and Geopolitics of European Border Territories. Through its multidisciplinary approach, the programme addresses political, economic, cultural, and environmental issues. Developed in partnership with Avignon University.

Studying in the Department of History means benefiting from:

• small class sizes and personalised support throughout the programme.

• a high-quality multidisciplinary education covering various aspects of the Humanities: History, Political Science, Geopolitics, etc.

• collaborations with the UCLy Departments of Law, Philosophy, and Human Formation.

• exchange agreements with numerous universities across Europe and around the world, enabling students to spend a semester abroad during their third year of study (Canada, Hungary, Italy, the United Kingdom, Argentina, South Korea, etc.).
