ILCF students learn French thanks to street- art (Peinture Fraîche Festival) !

The ILCF Lyon challenged itself for the first semester and thought of inventing a pedagogy linking French teaching and urban art. Therefore the Institute reached to the Lyon Peinture Fraîche Festival.

A partnership with the Lyon Peinture Fraîche Festival

Since 2018, the Lyon Peinture Fraîche Festival invites artists from all around the world to tag, divert, stick and project their art in the Debourg Hall (Lyon 7).

This year our teachers, trained to the exhibition mediation by the festival team, prepared a tailored program for their students. The construction and sharing of the pedagogical sessions led to multiple productions such as creative writing, art critic, virtual rallye in Lyon. Laurianne PIRODON (CAPE’A) brought technical advice in order to integrate digital tools, such as Padlet, Vevox, Kahoot or Genial.y,  to the didactic support.

An interactive visit but not only !

All students have worked in class within elaborate pedagogical sequences. As a second step, every group, from A1 to C1 level, guided by their teachers, went in situ. They were able to admire the various paintings, sculptures and installations. The visitor is far from passive during this exhibit built for interaction and movement. An application has even been developed to observe the pieces of art in augmented reality. On the spot, the students were able to experiment workshops such as Waterlight Graffiti. This installation, made of LEDs, lights itself when the surface is in contact with water : it allows you to express your creativity and to become an artist.

Lastly, thanks to the activities organized by the ILCF teachers and the festival, the students got the opportunity to widen their horizon, discover creations and international artists, but above all, to improve their French. Rendez-vous for the 3rd festival edition ! The teachers, the cultural service and the students’ productions will be useful for the  next pedagogical file of the Lyon Peinture Fraîche Festival.

Many thanks to the pedagogical and administrative ILCF-Lyon team for the successful outcome of this great project.
