Sharing dinner with a French family: a unique cultural experience

Speaking French in the classroom is one thing. Sharing dinner with a French family is another. Thanks to family dinners organised in partnership with Lyon International, ILCF students experience French language, cuisine and hospitality in a warm and welcoming home environment.

A unique opportunity to experience everyday French life

Throughout the academic year, including during the summer programmes, ILCF offers international students the opportunity to share dinner with local families through its partnership with Lyon International. More than just a meal, these evenings provide a genuine opportunity to practise French in a relaxed atmosphere while discovering everyday life and French culture.

Here is what some of our students had to say about this memorable experience.

It was an incredible night. Beatrice welcomed us so warmly. I enjoyed every minute of the conversation I had with her.

It was wonderful! I had plenty of opportunities to practise French with our host and the other guests.

Everything was wonderful! The family was incredibly welcoming and kind. The dinner was adapted to my needs, really a big thank you!

It was a lovely surprise. Since we were both Japanese, our hosts had also invited friends who were familiar with Japanese culture, which made the evening even more enjoyable.

The enthusiasm expressed by our students confirms the success of this initiative. Beyond improving their French, these evenings help them discover everyday life in France, build meaningful connections and feel at home in Lyon. We hope many future ILCF students will enjoy this unique experience during their stay in France.
