Making International Engagement the Foundation of Its Development
The creation in February 2025 of a Vice-Rectorate International Development and Europe by Rector Grégory Woimbée reflects the commitment to placing international engagement at the heart of the University’s strategy. Far from replicating models found at other institutions, this initiative is based on an idea that is both simple and ambitious: to make UCLy’s international and European engagement the driving force behind its evolution. Indeed, our institution is now convinced that openness to the world is a major asset for students. Consequently, the goal is to foster a new, ambitious dynamic in European and international affairs and to systematically integrate this dimension into all projects, whether academic, scientific, or institutional.
The very name of this Vice-Rectorate reflects the importance attached to our University's European identity. By making explicit reference to Europe in all its geopolitical dimensions, the University affirms its commitment to fully engaging in the continent's and the European Union's dynamics of cooperation and excellence. The first initiatives undertaken have focused on developing a new international strategy designed to support and strengthen the University's deployment of strategic partnerships..
