UCLy launches its European Semester with Ireland
Starting in the 2026 academic year, UCLy will spotlight a different European Union country each semester through a dedicated programme of language, academic and cultural activities. It will give students the opportunity to broaden their horizons while also preparing for future international mobility. For this first semester, UCLy is going green as Ireland takes centre stage. We take a closer look at this dynamic and fast-growing country with Eoin Campbell, a lecturer at UCLy’s Faculty of Law and ESTRI.

UCLy’s Primary Education Bachelor’s degree expands to Marseille
Following Lyon, Annecy and Le Puy-en-Velay, UCLy now has a presence in Marseille! Since the start of the 2026 academic year, the Department of Education Sciences has been offering its Primary Education Bachelor’s degree in the city. Introduced following the 2025 reform of teacher education in France, the programme helps meet the needs of Catholic schools in the Marseille area.

Sister Helen Alford: Putting the economy at the service of people
On 15 October 2026, UCLy will have the honour of welcoming Sister Helen Alford to its Opening Academic Ceremony. Her remarkable career reflects some of the major challenges facing our society today.

Economist and expert in business ethics, Sister Helen Alford is currently Dean of the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas, better known as the Angelicum. She was also appointed President of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences by Pope Francis.
