Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at UCLy brings together three departments: the Department of Psychology, the Department of Education, and the Department of Anthropology and Sociology. It offers Bachelor's and Master's degrees, as well as a doctoral programme (PhD).
Department of Psychology
Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Psychology in partnership with Lyon 2 University
Established in 1990, UCLy's Department of Psychology, within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, prepares future psychologists through academic programmes combining solid theoretical foundations, professional experience and interdisciplinary skills.
The Department offers a complete academic pathway in psychology, from Bachelor's to Master's level, in partnership with Université Lumière Lyon 2, as well as continuing education programmes for professionals.
Its teaching is closely connected to psychological practice and research, enabling students to respond to the evolving needs of the profession while contributing to the development of innovative approaches to care, support and mental health.
Department of Education
A comprehensive academic pathway from Bachelor's to Master's degree
Established in 2021 within UCLy's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Education prepares future professionals in teaching, education and training through a comprehensive academic pathway from Bachelor's to Master's level.
The Department adopts a multidisciplinary approach that combines educational sciences, pedagogy, the humanities and critical reflection on contemporary educational practices.
Students can enrol in the Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education, the Bachelor's Degree in Education and Training Sciences, as well as three specialisations within the Master's in Teaching, Education and Training (MEEF).
Departement of Anthropology and Sociology
Master’s and Doctoral programmes in Social Sciences: two degrees dedicated to human and social vulnerabilities
Established at UCLy in September 2025, the Department of Anthropology and Sociology offers two European degrees: a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences (Canonical Licence) and a Doctorate in Social Sciences (ethnology, anthropology, sociology, history and education sciences), both focused on human and social vulnerabilities.
As a pontifical institution, the Department of Anthropology and Sociology awards Holy See degrees (canonical degrees) recognised at both European level (Bologna Process, 1999) and French level.
Students also have the opportunity to pursue a dual degree programme with the University of Perugia (Italy).
