Target Audience
This programme is intended for learners of all levels of French who wish to develop their spoken and written language skills and/or prepare for the DELF and DALF examinations.
Description
French courses are designed to develop both oral and written comprehension and expression skills. This progressive acquisition of autonomy in using the French language is supported through the study of grammar, vocabulary, and key aspects of French culture.
A wide range of language activities is offered, based on textbooks, workbooks, and authentic materials such as press articles, advertisements, comic strips, literary texts, and videos. Classes encourage active student participation.
Objectives
The program prepares students for the DUEF (Diplôme Universitaire d’Études Françaises).
Following a placement test, students are assigned to groups of 18 to 24 in order to prepare for:

Course length
1 semester: 200 hours – 16 hours per week
1 academic year: 400 hours – 16 hours per week
Levels A0 to B1:
190 hours of French as a foreign language,
10 hours of language lab
Levels B2 to C1:
180 hours of French as a foreign language,
10 hours of language lab,
10 hours of lectures
Classes are held from Monday to Friday, in the morning and/or afternoon.
Level test:
Before the start of each session, a mandatory placement test assessing written and oral skills is organized to integrate students into groups of homogeneous levels.
Learners can strengthen their skills through a 40 hours complementary Language, Culture and Civilization track of, bringing the total to 240 hours per semester.
The University Diploma in French Studies (DUEF)
The DUEF is a French language diploma accredited by the ADCUEFE (Association of University Centres for French as a Foreign Language). It is awarded at the end of the program upon successful completion of the examinations.
This University Diploma corresponds to a programme of 200 to 240 hours.
It is awarded with an indication of the level achieved, in accordance with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Assessment Methods
- Be enrolled in the DUEF program at ILCF.
- Complete both continuous assessment and final examinations.
- Achieve a minimum average score of 10/20 in continuous assessment.
- Maintain regular attendance.
