This support starts even before students arrive in France.<\/p><p>From the moment they begin preparing their departure, our team stays in touch to guide them step by step. Through the information available <a aria-label=\"on our website (s\u2019ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/international\/etudier-en-france\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on our website<\/a> and email exchanges, students receive practical information about their arrival, administrative procedures, and daily life in Lyon, so they can feel confident and well prepared before starting their studies at UCLy.<\/p><p>Then, upon arrival in Lyon, each student is given a welcome booklet, packed full of great advice, suggestions and other tips, which is handed out during a Welcome evening, the \u201cWelcome Cocktail\u201d organised in their honour. On this occasion, after a presentation of UCLy and the city of Lyon, international students are invited to a mini forum to meet representatives from the <a aria-label=\"sports bureau (s\u2019ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/vie-etudiante\/vie-associative\/le-sport-a-lucly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sports bureau<\/a>, the <a aria-label=\"chaplaincy (s\u2019ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/vie-etudiante\/vie-associative\/associations\/avenir-aumonerie-ucly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chaplaincy<\/a>, the <a aria-label=\"Human Training Department (s\u2019ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/formations\/formation-humaine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Human Training Department<\/a>, the International Relations office, the <a aria-label=\"accommodation service (s\u2019ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/vie-etudiante\/vie-pratique\/se-loger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accommodation service<\/a>, etc. with the objective of ensuring that they have the most successful stay possible.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><br>Festive and cultural activities throughout the year <\/h2><p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"670\" height=\"470\" class=\"wp-image-49002\" style=\"width: 670px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/internationaux-lyon.jpg\" alt=\"Groupe d'\u00e9tudiants internationaux de l'UCLy sur un pont de Lyon\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/internationaux-lyon.jpg 670w, https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/internationaux-lyon-200x140.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\" \/><\/p><p>Once here, they can join of our <a aria-label=\"Buddy Programme (s\u2019ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/faculte-de-droit\/international-2\/buddy-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Buddy Programme<\/a>, managed by the International Relations office\u2019s trainee. International students get to meet French students on an individual basis, to discuss life in France, or <a aria-label=\"any difficulties they may encounter (s\u2019ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/faculte-de-droit\/international-2\/international-student-desk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">any difficulties they may encounter<\/a>, particularly so during the initial stages of their stay in Lyon. All throughout<br> the academic year, they can take part in many different events especially organised for them, such as the Movie Club, Languages Caf\u00e9, the Get Together Cocktail, International Dinners, Days out in Lyon, etc. <br><br><\/p><div class=\"wp-block-text-image\">\n  <div class=\"row align-bottom collapse\">\n    <div class=\"column small-12 medium-6 xlarge-5 xxlarge-expand wp-block-text-image-info js-fade-scroll\">\n      <p class=\"wp-block-text-image-title\">Events & Activities <\/p>\n      <div class=\"wp-block-text-image-intro\"><p>Over the last few years, new activities have been launched and have been met with resounding success, such as the guided tour of the Mus\u00e9e des Beaux-Arts. There\u2019s no lack of entertainment on offer, and international students are generally very eager to take part in order to acquaint themselves with local culture. Since 2017, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.estri.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ESTRI <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilcf.net\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ILCF<\/a> have been organising regular meetings to bring students together and encourage meaningful exchanges.<\/p><p>These meetings connect ESTRI TSIL students (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.estri.fr\/en\/course-finder\/translation-and-international-communication-bachelors-level\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Specialist Translation and Liaison Interpreting<\/a>) with ILCF students who already have a good level of French.<\/p><p>ILCF students prepare short written assignments on a variety of topics, which then become the starting point for conversation. This gives ESTRI students valuable hands-on experience in proofreading, editing and linguistic mediation (spelling, vocabulary and sentence structure), while helping ILCF students practise French in a friendly and supportive setting.<\/p><p>Beyond language practice, these meetings create real connections and highlight the importance of intercultural dialogue within the UCLy student community.
