Creation of Lyon Catholic University <\/p>\n      <div class=\"wp-block-text-image-intro\"><p>Following the promulgation of the law on freedom of higher education of July 12, 1875, a group of Lyonnais jurists, under the protection of the bishops of the twenty five dioceses of the greater south-eastern area of France, decided to create a Catholic university at the end of the month of July 1875.<\/p>\n<p>It developed in the heart of the city of Lyon on its peninsula, Place Bellecour .<\/p>\n<p>This historic anchoring is a key element of UCLy\u2019s identity and that of the city of Lyon.<\/p>\n<p>At the impulse of the deputy, and then senator, Lucien Brun, Lyon Catholic University preceded its public counterparts by a few months when it opened the courses of the first <strong>Department <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/l-ucly\/nos-ecoles\/faculte-de-droit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>of Law<\/strong><\/a> of Lyon on <strong>25 November, 1875<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"column small-12 medium-6 xlarge-7 xxlarge-shrink wp-block-text-image-picture js-fade-scroll\">\n      <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"560\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ucly-1875-creation-facade-histoire-500x560.png\" class=\"attachment-text_image size-text_image\" alt=\"Cr\u00e9ation UCLy fa\u00e7ade bellecour - Multiculturality and interculturality are strong values of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/l-ucly\/nos-ecoles\/institut-des-droits-de-lhomme-de-lyon-idhl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Institute of Human Rights<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; Lyon which welcomes students from all over the world every year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"wp-block-icon-num js-fade-scroll\">\n  <div class=\"row align-middle collapse\">\n    <div class=\"column small-12 medium-shrink wp-block-icon-num-left\">\n              <p>1987<\/p>\n          <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"column small-12 medium-expand\">\n      <p class=\"wp-block-icon-num-title\">The Creation of ESDES<\/p>\n      <div class=\"wp-block-icon-num-intro\"><p>Founded in 1987, ESDES &#8211; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esdes.fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lyon Business School<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; trains responsible natives. They are smart, curious, committed students who have grown up to a positive impact on their environment. ESDES allows them to embrace their inital potential to become responsible managers. ESDES, the Business School of Lyon Catholic University offers a 5-year &#8220;Grande Ecole Programme&#8221; (EPAS accredited) and a 3-year Bachelor&#8217;s Degree.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"wp-block-icon-num js-fade-scroll\">\n  <div class=\"row align-middle collapse\">\n    <div class=\"column small-12 medium-shrink wp-block-icon-num-left\">\n              <p>1994<\/p>\n          <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"column small-12 medium-expand\">\n      <p class=\"wp-block-icon-num-title\">The Creation of ESQESE<\/p>\n      <div class=\"wp-block-icon-num-intro\"><p>Founded in 1994, ESQESE &#8211; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/l-ucly\/nos-ecoles\/esqese\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School for Quality, Environment, Safety, and Health in Business<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; trains its students in a strategic and operational approach to QSE.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2005 - Lyon Catholic University settles on the Place Carnot site<\/h2><p>A decisive first investment.
