{"id":142345,"date":"2022-02-10T16:27:06","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T15:27:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/?page_id=142345"},"modified":"2026-09-29T17:52:39","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T15:52:39","slug":"visiting-professors","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/en\/research\/researchers\/visiting-professors\/","title":{"rendered":"Visiting professors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/en\/research\/confluence-sciences-and-humanities-research-center\/\">CONFLUENCE Sciences &amp; Humanities Research Center (EA1598)<\/a> welcomes international researchers and professors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of this programme is to foster collaboration with UCLy's research faculty on common scientific themes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hosting periods must be compatible with the annual university programme (excluding school holidays) and range from one to six months. The researcher is hosted on the Carnot or Saint Paul sites in the city center of Lyon (Rh\u00f4ne - 69).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A scientific advisor, member of the UR CONFLUENCE Sciences &amp; Humanities, accompanies the visiting researcher during his\/her stay. In the same year, he began working at the Faculty of Law, Ankara University, in the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, where he currently works.<\/p>\n<p>During his master\u2019s degree, he undertook research at the University of Lyon 3 Jean Moulin thanks to a French government scholarship, and at the Universities of Rome and Bologna during his PhD. He spent two short periods at the Max Planck Institute in Freiburg conducting research.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, he was awarded a Doctor of Laws degree and, in 2019, the title of associate professor. In 2023, he was admitted to the Ankara Bar as a solicitor.<\/p>\n<p>He is the author of three published books entitled \u2018The Statute of Limitations in Criminal Law\u2019, \u2018Offences against Sexual Freedom in Turkish Criminal Law\u2019 and \u2018The Adversarial Principle and Equality of Arms in the Context of the Right to a Fair Trial in Criminal Procedure Law\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He has written numerous articles in the field of criminal law and criminal procedure. For further information, seehttps:\/\/avesis.ankara.edu.tr\/taner<\/p>\n<p>G\u00f6k\u00e7en is currently at UCLy as a fellow of the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council, conducting research for his book on the adjudication of minor offences, which is due to be published in Turkey. His research focuses on developmental psychology, clinical psychology and environmental psychology. His thesis will examine the psychological factors influencing pro-environmental behaviour from a perspective that qualitatively covers the entire developmental spectrum, from children to adolescents and adults.<\/p>\n<p>He has been hosted at UCLy as part of the cooperation agreement on training and research between UCLy and the University of Perugia. During his stay, he will take part in teaching activities at the Faculty of Psychology and the University, having the opportunity to enrich, integrate and expand on all aspects relating to the psychological issues inherent in climate and environmental change, as well as developmental psychology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/rafael-borges-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Rafael BORGES<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Public Prosecutor for the State of Goi\u00e1s, holder of a law degree and currently studying for a Master\u2019s degree in Human Rights at the Federal University of Goi\u00e1s, Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>During his research visit to UCLy, Rafael is focusing on the analysis of hate speech within the Brazilian legal context. His research aims to understand the phenomenon of hate speech through an approach that takes into account the performative nature of language. The study examines how hate speech can incite (or even bring about) discrimination, hostility and violence, and how this performative power can be understood and compared with established legal definitions.<\/p>\n<p><em>Career and specialisms<\/em>: Rafael has been a Public Prosecutor for the State of Goi\u00e1s since 2014, working in various advisory and litigation departments. He is currently studying for a Master\u2019s degree in Human Rights at the Federal University of Goi\u00e1s. He also teaches civil law.<\/p>\n<p><em>Research interests<\/em>: His current research focuses on hate speech, democracy and human rights. She subsequently completed a postgraduate diploma in legal professions and was admitted to the Milan Bar in Italy. Since 2022, she has been practising as a criminal lawyer and is a PhD candidate in criminal procedure law at the University of Turin.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Her current research explores anti-corruption measures in Italian public universities, examining the impact of economic and cultural transformations in higher education, as well as the evolution of regulatory frameworks for risk management procedures, particularly in the public procurement sector. She has been invited as a visiting researcher to UCLy to collaborate with Caroline Peloso on compliance programmes implemented in response to anti-corruption legislation in France, within both public and private institutions. She is interested in the French philosophy of the XX and XXI century. Before working on contemporary philosophy, she dedicated part of her research to Maine de Biran, a philosopher to whom she wrote her thesis at the University of Perugia in 1997 (the other part was devoted to the Philosophy of Mind and in particular to Louis Lavelle and Ren\u00e9 Le Senne). As a translator and specialist of Jean Nabert, she then studied contemporary French phenomenology (notably Jean-Luc Marion, Michel Henry and Jean-Louis Chr\u00e9tien).
