{"id":101026,"date":"2019-10-29T12:04:46","date_gmt":"2019-10-29T11:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/?page_id=101026"},"modified":"2022-04-04T11:10:21","modified_gmt":"2022-04-04T09:10:21","slug":"extended-learning-department","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/en\/extended-learning-department\/","title":{"rendered":"Extended Learning Department (DFH)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The university\u2019s identity is strongly influenced by its <em>\u201cConfluence\u201d <\/em>project, which represents a geographical location, a scientific programme and a desire to come together with others.<\/p><p>The Extended Learning Department (<strong><em>D\u00e9partement de Formation Humaine<\/em><\/strong>, DFH) plays a role in this project by providing forums for sharing different perspectives on the world we live in. This multidisciplinarity is a real source of inspiration, enriching UCLy\u2019s degree-specific teaching with an awareness of the current issues of modern society.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The DFH offers students :<\/h2><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A wide range of <strong>methodological tools<\/strong> to strengthen what they've learnt (\u2018Improvisation and Public Speaking\u2019, \u2018Discernment and Critical Thinking\u2019, \u2018Introduction to radio using RCF radio station\u2019);<\/li><li>Modules to <strong>develop their curiosity<\/strong> (\u2018French cuisine: cultural heritage to discover\u2019, \u2018Cinema: the history and language of images\u2019, \u2018Introduction to french sign language\u2019);<\/li><li>The chance to <strong>gain insight into fields of research outside of their discipline<\/strong> to enrich their learning ('Introduction to Psychology\u2019, \u2018A look into Clinical Criminology\u2019, \u2018Introduction to Anthropology: Unity of Humankind and Cultural Diversity\u2019);<\/li><li>A variety of practices aimed toward getting a <strong>better understanding of self-awareness<\/strong> (\u2018Relaxation, Concentration and Presence\u2019, \u2018Emotional Intelligence and Positive Psychology\u2019, \u2018Understand how the brain works to improve learning strategies\u2019);<\/li><li>Space for <strong>reflection <\/strong>upon the current issues of the contemporary world (\u2018Contemporary International Relations\u2019, \u2018The Big Ethics Debates: Artificial intelligence\u2019, \u2018Think and live interculturality\u2019).<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>ECTS credits can sometimes be awarded for these modules<\/strong>. Most modules have sessions on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm, while some are in the form of intensive sessions during the Autumn and Winter breaks.<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-video js-fade-scroll\">\n  <div class=\"plyr__video-embed js-player\">\n    <iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/o-Hvk1dXekc?origin=https:\/\/plyr.io&amp;iv_load_policy=3&amp;modestbranding=1&amp;playsinline=1&amp;showinfo=0&amp;rel=0&amp;enablejsapi=1\" allowfullscreen allowtransparency allow=\"autoplay\" poster=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/humanities-training-department.jpg\" ratio=\"4:3\"><\/iframe>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A very diversified offer of courses open to all students<\/h2><p>The DFH wishes to work towards an outward-looking mindset, with ethical considerations placed at the centre of the wide range of courses taught by UCLy.
