Through dialogue with other disciplines, it encourages rigorous philosophical reflection on the major questions shaping contemporary society and human experience.<\/p><p>Open to students and lifelong learners alike, the Faculty of Philosophy promotes critical thinking and interdisciplinary dialogue while addressing today's ethical, cultural and societal challenges.<\/p><p>Its research is structured around two main areas:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Philosophy and Christianity<\/li>\n\n<li>Philosophy, Ethics and Life Sciences<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"wp-block-text-image\">\n  <div class=\"row align-bottom collapse\">\n    <div class=\"column small-12 medium-6 xlarge-5 xxlarge-expand wp-block-text-image-info js-fade-scroll\">\n      <p class=\"wp-block-text-image-title\">Research within the Faculty of Philosophy<\/p>\n      <div class=\"wp-block-text-image-intro\"><p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"2788\" data-end=\"2977\">Research is closely connected to UCLy&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/en\/ucly\/research\/sciences-humanities-confluence-research-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Confluence Research Unit<\/a>: Sciences and Humanities (EA 1598), particularly through the following research groups:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2982\" data-end=\"3256\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1q1uboh\" data-start=\"2982\" data-end=\"3074\">Research Group 1 \u2013 Theology, Philosophy and Religious Studies in Contemporary Contexts<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1u324nu\" data-start=\"3199\" data-end=\"3256\">Research Group 5 \u2013 Ecology, Epistemology and Ethics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"column small-12 medium-6 xlarge-7 xxlarge-shrink wp-block-text-image-picture js-fade-scroll\">\n          <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>UNIVA<\/strong><\/h3><p><a href=\"https:\/\/univa.ucly.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNIVA <\/a>(Universit\u00e9 Vie Active), UCLy's lifelong learning institute, offers courses, workshops, lectures, cultural visits and study trips in Lyon.
