{"id":58018,"date":"2019-10-11T09:29:46","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T07:29:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/?post_type=cpt_pole&#038;p=58018"},"modified":"2023-11-14T19:10:36","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T18:10:36","slug":"modern-languages-literature","status":"publish","type":"cpt_pole","link":"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/en\/our-poles\/modern-languages-literature\/","title":{"rendered":"Faculty of Modern Languages and Literature"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Faculty of Modern Languages and Literature is composed of:<\/strong><\/h2><p>\u2022 The Department of French Literature and Civilizations is oriented towards literature, education, culture, modern languages and History.<\/p><p>\u2022 ESTRI, with its international outlook, is designed for bilingual or trilingual French students,<\/p><p>\u2022 The ILCF is aimed at French and international students who are interested in the French language and culture.<\/p><p>It is also composed of specialized research centers such as: the Pierre Gardette Institute, the Ecology and Discourse research project and the Eurasian Chair.<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-separator js-fade-scroll\"><\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE DEPARTMENT OF FRENCH LITERATURE AND CIVILIZATIONS<\/h2><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/l-ucly\/nos-ecoles\/faculte-lettres-civilisations\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-58272\" style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/facultelettreset-civilisations_quadri.png\" alt=\"logo lettres modernes rvb svg\"><\/a><\/p><div class=\"wp-block-button js-fade-scroll\">\n\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/en\/study-in-lyon-france\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Discover the Department of French Literature and Civilizations\" class=\"button primary\">Discover the Department of French Literature and Civilizations<\/a>\n\n  <\/div><p>The degree of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/formations\/les-formations-de-lucly\/toutes-nos-formations\/licence-de-lettres-modernes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">French Literature<\/a> provides multidisciplinary teaching combining literature, linguistic, philology and 5 specialization programmes :<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Reinforced Literature,<\/li>\n\n<li>Education, <\/li>\n\n<li>Society and Politics, <\/li>\n\n<li>Journalism, <\/li>\n\n<li>Culture. <\/li><\/ul><p>It also offers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/formations\/les-formations-de-lucly\/toutes-nos-formations\/preparation-societe-et-politique-concours-iep\/\">preparation for the IEP<\/a> exams. Third year students may join a study abroad program at a partner university in countries such as Canada, Hungary, Italy, United Kingdom, Argentina, South Korea, etc.<\/p><p>Finally, since September 2022 a degree of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/formations\/les-formations-de-lucly\/toutes-nos-formations\/licence-histoire-lyon\/\">History<\/a> has opened and offers two specializations:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Political Science and Geopolitic<\/li>\n\n<li>Tourism and Territories<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"wp-block-separator js-fade-scroll\"><\/div><p><\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> ESTRI<\/h2><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-58269\" style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/estri-couleur.svg\" alt=\"logo estri svg\"><\/p><p>ESTRI is a school of languages, translation and international communication. For over 50 years,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.estri.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ESTRI<\/a>&nbsp;has been preparing students for today's professional world by turning a passion for languages into a decisive asset. ESTRI students are prepared for the professions of specialised translation, international communication, international marketing, and intercultural management, by following programmes designed in consultation with professionals in the sectors concerned and using a skills-based approach. Thanks to these different areas of expertise, the school opens the door to an international career. For ESTRI, interculturality is at the heart of its business and language is its key tool.<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-button js-fade-scroll\">\n\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/estri.fr\" target=\"\" title=\"Discover ESTRI\" class=\"button primary\">Discover ESTRI<\/a>\n\n  <\/div><div class=\"wp-block-separator js-fade-scroll\"><\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ILCF<\/h2><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-58276\" style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/ilcf.svg\" alt=\"logo ilcf svg\"><\/p><p>Created in 1948 in the heart of Lyon, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ilcf.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Institute of French Language and Culture (ILCF Lyon)<\/a>\u00a0offers courses in <strong>French as a Foreign Language<\/strong> (FLE). Here is the ILCF Lyon in figures: more than 70 years of existence, nearly 2,000 students from 5 continents representing 70 nationalities, an Official DELF\/DALF Examination Centre, University Diplomas in French Studies (DUEF) at several levels including a wide range of specialized French courses, and an FLE Quality Label. <\/p><p>The Institute of French Language and Culture has held the \u2018<strong>Qualit\u00e9 Fran\u00e7ais Langue Etrang\u00e8re<\/strong>\u2019 label for over 20 years, and also holds the \u2018<strong>Choose France<\/strong>\u2019 label (first awarded to the university in 2019).<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-separator js-fade-scroll\"><\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UCLY TOURISM SCHOOL<\/h2><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-58276\" style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/logo-tourisme_quadri.png\" alt=\"logo bahcelor tourisme\"><\/p><p>The Auvergne-Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes region is ideally suited to the development of tourism and cultural projects.<br>For that reason, UCLy has joined forces with a major player in the local business community, the Haute-Loire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in order to open its tourism school, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/formations\/les-formations-de-lucly\/toutes-nos-formations\/bachelor-tourisme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00c9cole Sup\u00e9rieure de Tourisme<\/a>, in Le Puy-en-Velay at the start of the 2021-2022 academic year. Its aim is to provide undergraduate and, in the long term, Master\u2019s level education for future middle and senior managers in the tourism and hospitality industry. The students, who have an important role to play in the development of their regions, will be the drivers of sustainable, ethical and compassionate tourism.<br><\/p><div class=\"wp-block-separator js-fade-scroll\"><\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">INSTITUT PIERRE GARDETTE<\/h2><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-58281\" style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/ipg.svg\" alt=\"logo ipg svg\"><\/p><p>A research and development centre for languages and cultures in the Auvergne Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes region, the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ucly.fr\/l-ucly\/nos-ecoles\/institut-pierre-gardette\/\" target=\"_blank\">Institut Pierre Gardette<\/a>&nbsp;(IPG) specialises in the study of Franco-Proven\u00e7al and Occitan languages and the geographical variations of the French language.
