This conference is intended to give a perspective of some of the political, social, cultural and economic impacts of Brexit.<\/p>

Short updates will be given on the different directions taken by Brexit in the UK since 2020, particularly Northern Ireland, Scotland and England.<\/p>

The special situation of the island of Ireland, and impacts in other EU countries will be mentioned. Time will be allowed at the end for questions and answers in English or French.<\/p>

Simon Wesley <\/p>\n

Simon comes from London. After a law and social sciences BA at the University of Kent at Canterbury, he qualified as a Solicitor before moving to France in 1980, and Lyon in 1991, where he was an Avocat until retiring in 2017. He taught English law at Universit\u00e9 Lyon 3, before coming to teach common law and international sale of goods law at UCLy in 2017. He is the co-author of Le Droit Anglais des Affaires (Domat 2018) with C\u00e9cile Le Gallou of the Universit\u00e9 of Toulouse. He is also a consultant to French law firms; and Handicap<\/em> International on international law.<\/em><\/p>\n

Alan Geary <\/p>\n

Alan is originally from Edinburgh and has been living in France for almost twenty-five years. A History & English teacher at the Cit\u00e9 Scolaire Internationale de Lyon (prof agr\u00e9g\u00e9), he also serves as a Board member of <\/em>ASIBA<\/em><\/a>. Educated at Strathclyde University (Glasgow) and La Sorbonne (Paris 4), Alan\u2019s centres of interest are early modern history, with a speciality in Religion and Identity in Scotland.<\/em><\/p>\n

Eoin Campbell<\/p>\n

Eoin is originally from County Down and has been a resident of Lyon for the past 15 years. Educated at the Queens University of Belfast, he qualified as a solicitor in 2008. A teacher of Legal English and Common Law at UCLY and at Lyon 3, his subjects include Tort and Data Protection law.<\/em><\/p>\n
