It was set up in March 2007 and its legal status is a 'public establishment for scientific co-operation'.

 

It comprises 100,000 students.


The University of Lyon aims to:

- Enhance the University of Lyon's openness, quality of student experience and international reputation

- Highlight the potential of research in Lyon, and promote and strengthen its contribution to regional economic development

- Help students to integrate into life in Lyon by providing high quality information and services

- Develop the science, technology and industry communities and related communication

- Support the development of new learning technologies
